Fry Club Colts U13 (6) v Thornbury U13 (2)

January 15th, 2006

It took just 4 minutes for Fry’s to open the scoring at home against Thornbury.

Ryan Ellett took the ball out wide to the left of the box after a great pass by Evan Thomas and fires into the net past the keeper.

Straight from the restart Thornbury attacked and an attempted clearance by the Fry’s defence of a goal mouth scramble rebounds off the Thornbury striker past Tom Rose to make it 1-1.

The game was quite even but Fry’s were second to the ball too many times.

Ryan Davis came close to regaining the lead for Fry’s but saw his close range shot sail over the bar.

In the 14th minute Thornbury are unlucky when a well taken shot fires into the side netting.

Fry’s finally go back in front after an excellent whipped in corner is met by Dan Stone who heads in for number 2.

Fry’s get another two in quick succession before half time when Harry Poples long range effort is fumbled by the keeper and Ryan Ellett is there to taps in, then Dan

Buley side foots in an easy opportunity when a cross comes in and he finds himself unmarked in the area. 4 – 1 going into the break.

Changes for the second half see Jack Baber on for Ryan Davis and Dan Curtis on for Myles Jefferies.

6 minutes in and Harry Pople scores a great individual effort when he glides through the Thornbury defence and chips the keeper with a delightful shot.

Fresh legs come on, at the back with Josh Brooks replacing Tom Sheehan and up front John Cotgreave for Ryan Ellett.

Thornbury carried on battling and got one back to make it 5 – 2 with a well taken goal giving Tom Rose no chance of stopping the shot.

Jack Baber made it 6 – 2 with a near post header from a Justin Skinner corner.

Lewis Marcham was the next sub to be introduced to replace Tom Hooper who had played well with some well timed challenges and piercing long range crossing.

Fry’s had a couple more chances to increase their lead but the score ended 6 – 2.

A good win, despite the game not being one of Fry’s better performances.
